Smoke

When you light a fire

You create smoke

It’s a mask, a smoke screen

Hiding the real devastation taking place

You can’t see that devastation

Until the fire has stopped raging

The smoke all but gone

Then you see the damage she has created

  1. Smoke makes many a disaster possible. Like the illusions we hid behind before we face the truth.

  2. Sometimes I think the illusions of smoke are what get us through the day. Nice poem.

  3. This reminds me that lies are a smoke screen to stand behind. When the truth is revealed, it can be quite devastating.

  5. I see where there is going but I can help thinking it is too literal. And little isn't a bad thing except when the intent is to be figurative. Thanks for the read.
